eCommerce Platform - GALERIA

Development, realisation and operation of one of the most modern and highly scalable eCommerce platforms in Germany. After just 12 months, the online shop went live as a central element of Galeria's holistic omnichannel strategy. A cost-efficient e-business solution for digital store integration that is still supported and continuously developed by bestbytes today.

Galeria Kaufhof is one of the largest department stores' chains in Germany. Founded in 1879 as a small shop for yarns, buttons, fabrics and woollen goods by Leonhard Tietz in Stralsund, the former family business has developed over the years into a retail group with around 21,500 employees and more than 130 shops (as of 2021/22) throughout Germany. In addition to the traditional POS, the company increasingly focussed on its online business from 2016 and pursued a closely integrated omnichannel strategy.


Tasks

At the beginning of 2021, bestbytes began redesigning the GALERIA online shop. The aim was to develop a state-of-the-art, UX-optimised e-commerce platform with a responsive design that was both cost-efficient and highly scalable and highly performant across all devices. As part of a holistic omnichannel strategy, the task was to develop digital applications that enable the filtering and reservation of multiple products across all GALERIA shops. The range of functions also included the provision of real-time stock levels, permanently up-to-date product data and prices as well as the integration of the GALERIA customer card directly into the GALERIA customer account.

Result of the collaboration
